GoodRx Acquires HeyDoctor, Launches Online Medical Visits

Santa Monica-based GoodRx, an online marketplace for prescription drugs, is expanding into online medical visits with the acquisition of online medical services provider HeyDoctor. According to GoodRx, it has launched a new service where Americans can get an online medical visit with board-certified medical professionals, and receive treatment, prescriptions, and lab tests for routine medical issues. Financial details of the acquisition of HeyDoctor were not announced. HeyDoctor's service had allowed patients to get prescriptions via text and app. According to GoodRx, it now offers up access to physicians who can order up lab testing, refills of preventive and chronic medications, and treatment for acute medical conditions, including prescriptions for birth control, smoking cessation, erectile dysfunction, urinary tract infections and more. The company is led by co-CEOs Doug Hirsch and Trevor Bezdek. Hirsch previously founded DailyStrength, and also had been a VP at Facebook and Yahoo; Bezdek was founder of Tryarc, which he sold to NTT DATA, and also sits on the board of RightsLine.
