Los Angeles-based Emotive Communications , a venture backed provider of ringtone and mobile music products, was acquired last week by Zad Mobile. Shaw Ventures and Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments (BDMI). Emotive was venture backed by Mayfield, D. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Earlier this month, Los Angeles-based HitFix (www.hitfix.com) an online news site focused on entertainment, announced it had raised $2M in a funding round. It was the fall of 2008, when Lehman Bros. The driving force for me was the gap in the market which I saw, a disruption in media consumption patterns. Everyone knows this.
