Irvine-based Local Corporation , the operator of online local advertising websites, said today that it has been granted a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark office. The firm said the new patent, number 8,306,208, covers pay-per-call technology. Local Corporation was represented by Nixon Peabody LLP in the filing.

We raised funding in September of 2009, about six months ago, raising $500,000 from private angel investors.
