My fund – at $200 million – is the largest in Southern California. Many of the Valley tech firms saw advertising as “beneath them&# and many VCs in the first boom encouraged people to focus on eyeballs rather than dollars. There are no $600 million funds in Los Angeles. LA investors are more pragmatic.
