As software developers, we're technophiles, so we enjoy these cycles and quite often find humor listening to the energy spent arguing on either side of issues. Sure we still get excited and animated about a new JavaScript library, a new CSS trick, a new device, or a new data store. Not to downplay developer happiness.

But like lemmings, every company in the market rushed to proclaim they were launching WAP versions of their products. It required content sites to develop totally new content. Everybody and their mothers are coming into my offices proclaiming that their developing the latest iPhone App. It was hard to use. I’m now a VC.
