Amazon took a consumer value proposition (buying books, then all retail products) and made the consumer experience significantly better, faster & cheaper. They didn’t do this by selling better books or electronics, they did it by building a logistics & warehouse powerhouse.

It was driven by the introduction of open-source software, most notably what was called the LAMP stack. That little online book company. Open-Source Software & Horizontal Computing. The first major change in our industry was imperceptible to us as an industry. Amazon changed our industry. This is mind boggling. Not Google.
