It is never as rewarding when you’re the coach (but coaching has many other benefits. Last year I lost a deal in a company that I wanted to invest in and that I thought I should have won. It’s the one thing I miss having switched from player to manager – I love the joy of winning and of competing.

It is never as rewarding when you’re the coach (but coaching has many other benefits ;-). There are other great VC’s in SoCal and there is always the allure of the NorCal guys flying down and talking about how they invested in Google, Facebook, Yahoo! I know I won’t win every deal I want to in VC.
