When I built my first company starting in 1999 it cost $2.5 That’s awesome for users of Salesforce.com or companies that want to cater to them but less awesome for pure startups that want independence and are really just looking for cloud infrastructure. That makes both of these amazing companies great channels for startups.

What's your new startup all about, and why did you start the company? How does this differ from the kind of data Amazon has said it will make available through services like S3? They are making storage available to people or to institutions who have data they want to share publicly, for free, on S3. Is this similar?

AOL was controlled by one company and the Internet was distributed. AOL controlled the services, taxed companies to access users and decided what was good or bad. If you were a newly minted, venture-backed consumer Internet company you had to have a deal with AOL to reach your customers. companies versus the Web 1.0
