On Friday, at the LA CTO Forum , I heard from a couple of CTOs having trouble finding good developers. My company, TechEmpower , recently added a few top notch developers, but it wasn’t easy to find just the right people. I don’t have specific suggestions for people you can hire. My methods are pretty vanilla.

And that rep doesn’t just send an email to his boss – he has coffee with the head of customer service. The best companies are built on common beliefs and culture – a common sense of purpose. CEO, VP Products and CTO must all be in the physical location. I prefer the first sales hires to be in the home office.
