Competitiveness - One attribute that I believe most VCs look for in entrepreneurs is competitiveness. If you stumble on to a really good idea believe me it will get competitive really quickly. We played against her parents and I was focused. I had to say it. I know I do. I like to work with people who hate to lose.

I have discussed in this series a number of books and games parents can share with their children which will cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. Amarillo’s advice is consistent with my comments in the Startup Competition ; get to know your competitors on a personal basis, while appearing as innocuous as possible.

In this yearly event put on by the Stevens Center for Innovation , 30 teams, selected from a pool of 70 applicants, presented their unique ideas to crowds of students, parents, and judges. This event was a competition, and judges began making their rounds around noon. The winners were then announced and handed large cardboard checks.

The ambitiously competitive teams were as follows: The Brownies, with Epic Tunes, an app aimed at live concert goers, to provide information, show reviews, and access to ticket purchases. MASKKK the Destroyers and their Kid Tracker App to help parents avoid from letting their children slip through the cracks. Find a hero.

And of course there are startups. I’m looking for maniacal, competitive, driven, hard-working, obsessed individuals who are deeply committed to winning in the same way that Kobe Bryant is committed to being at the best in his field. I’m not looking to fund people who err too much on the life side the work/life balance.

It could also be used with elderly parents to track whether they’re doing ok and potentially even alert automatically to a fall or to a person with Alzheimers crossing an off-boundary barrier. Of course if an organization buys Density sensors that data isn’t available more broadly to the market unless they opt in to sharing with others.

I would say my wife & I are on the “non neurotic&# side of parents. Oh, and of course I shoot all of my videos at the ThisWeekIn studios which are located in the Mahalo offices. AngelList has introduced new competition and competition in any industry is always good.
