I’m very pleased today to announce that I invested, on behalf of GRP Partners, in Burstly alongside Rincon Venture Partners , an early stage VC in Southern California whith whom we love to work (and were our co-investors on RingRevenue ). I don’t intend either, Burstly has respectable and strong competition.

I’m super excited to announce that GRP Partners led the investment in Ethan Anderson’s new company MyTime (link has LA-based merchants but will give you a good feel for the product). In the same year they won Business Insider’s Startup competition. Let me not bury the lede. Nice sweep!

Gilt Group is currently the largest private sale web site in US. Booyah – Develops a location based service platform that pairs the virtual world with mobile gaming. In the show we talked about why this is important to mobile application developers. Configurable from desktop-based web-based UI. Time will tell.

It’s hard to get people to take a risk at a startup or for a reasonable salary with all this competition. In San Diego you have Qualcomm so an entire mobile industry has been spawned. That sets us up nicely for the next phase of the web. Scott Painter , founder of CarsDirect has created TrueCar (backed by GRP Partners).
