We've made some investments here and there, and are now building a team, and making a lot of investments in SoCal tech companies. So, now, as a VC, I swore I'd never treat entrepreneurs like those VCs treated me. Of course, not all VCs are like that, and I've started some good relationships with them, but others are complete a**holes.

Many of the founders of these companies are surprised to learn that I'm willing to review what they are doing (maybe an hour) and get on the phone for an hour with them and provide free advice. Of course, I provide part-time CTO services. Unfortunately, we are web, mobile, software, database guys. What Is This?

There is one thing I learned a long time about about setting goals, “you manage what you measure&# so you need to begin by regularly recording your weight. Writing down your weight from your scale is obviously a manual process and it’s tedious. My favorite new software tool is DailyBurn. We’ll see.

Baghdasarian was co-founder of Monterey Networks, which was sold to Cisco Systems back in 1999, has been an active angel investor in Southern California. Of course, if you are a good developer looking for equity-only positions in very interesting startups, please drop me a note. Most of the great software startups that I’ve been involved in have at least one technical co-founder (and many have more than one.)
