I’ve been having discussions with several people recently about the role of the CTO (Chief Technology Officer) in very early stage companies. Most of them are completely mundane such as choosing which: bank, office space, 1-year lease vs. 2-year lease, logo, URL, pricing structure or which VC. The technology team disagrees on direction and wants resolutions. Yes, I know it’s my job as the CEO to be the coach for people and that’s fine.
