I’ve been engaged with social networking for some time now, starting with Myspace and Facebook and just recently (within the last 30 days), Twitter. Through the use of social networking, we have sold out all 150 spots available for this event two weeks before the date and recently added another 50 to accommodate the demand.

Benedikt Scholz is an exceptional student whom I had the pleasure of instructing when he recently studied at UC Santa Barbara. Before arriving in Santa Barbara, he had already launched his first startup, Rooming , which helps college students manage their living accommodations while studying abroad or interning.

At the Twiistup panel last week, there was a debate over whether big companies could be created here, which is ridiculous--Demand Media is the latest example there, we've got Cornerstone OnDemand coming out soon, and there is no question there are market leading, large revenue companies coming out of Southern California.
