Happy Halloween fans of web development frameworks! One particularly interesting anomaly is the dominance of Windows paired with Mongo on EC2 in the Updates test. The performance is only slightly lower than the same pairing on i7, where in most cases our i7s (2600K workstations, to be precise) and EC2 (m1.large)

CrowdStrike , the developer of endpoint protection software and cybersecurity tools with a big presence in Orange County, is extending its software to Amazon Web Services, the company said today. The new software is billed, much like AWS, on usage metering. Pricing on the new service was not announced by CrowdStrike.

They then launched processing capabilities (EC2) and we startups suddenly didn’t need to buy production servers. Amazon allowed 22-year-old tech developers to launch companies without even raising capital. Every startup I knew in 2005 (when I started my second company) was using this. Amazon will surely keep moving up the stack.

This is an EC2 test run on a pair of Large instances. Among the many factors to consider when choosing a web development framework, raw performance is easy to objectively measure. We ran each test on EC2 and our i7 hardware. First up is plain JSON serialization on Amazon EC2 large instances. Starting again with EC2.
