I even plan to use it in my upcoming UC Santa Barbara Entrepreneurial Selling class. In a perfect world, the coolest widget, the coolest service would automatically sell and people would love it…but this ain’t a perfect world. I’ve remained a skeptic about the BBB and as a result of an email I received a couple of weeks ago from them, I have raised the skepticism threat level. So here’s the email I received: Eric, My name is Chad Ratliffe emailing from the Better Business Bureau. First Data of Santa Barbara. Shocking, right?

Santa Barbara-based SendMeHome (www.sendmehome.com) is looking to solve that problem, with a free service to print out labels which attach to your item, and where you can register items in case they are lost. I pursued the idea, and ended up with SendMeHome, and we've become the first free service.

I taught a somewhat crazy course about writing and deploying a scalable website in Ruby on Rails and deploying it in EC2.

I just got off the phone with someone who wanted my help getting networked into the Santa Barbara business community. During our email exchange before our call, I had to ask him what he wanted to talk about. If that were the case, I would not be writing this entry, as I realize young people are learning “on the job.”
