I was just down at Demo Day for the USC Incubator. I just found out about a great award opportunity for people connected to USC (or who can figure out a connection in time). Presentations Silicon Beach @ USC – September 18, USC Campus USC will be hosting its 2 nd annual Silicon Beach event on September 18 on the USC campus.

In just the last few weeks, at least five different incubation/acceleration efforts have booted up in the region. Specifically targeted at clean techonlogy firms, the group has more of a traditional incubator program, offering up office space for 6-8 companies, along with support, resources, and mentorship.

Los Angeles-based Tilofy (www.tilofy.com)--out of USC''s Viterbi Startup Garage--is doing just that, helping to highlight what is going on around you, by absorbing all of that location data out there at any particular time and place. My degree is from USC in big data. As you probably know, Viterbi is the engineering school at USC.

Los Angeles is an amazing place, and we have fashion, e-commerce, advertising, games, media, entertainment companies which I think make Los Angeles a phenomenal place. I was just judging the USC gaming hackathon. USC is producing lots of very talented game professionals, and so is UCLA. Howard Marks: Absolutely.
