I recently hosted a panel at the Twiistup Conference about LA tech companies. In the bay area it’s quite common for the entrepreneurs starting a company to be developers or technologists who can build the first versions of their products. Simply put LA has a lack of GREAT product, UI/UX, and design talent.

Jerome Chang: We have quite a variety of residents here, ranging from a lawyer, to real estate investors, to technology startups, to people in the entertainment industry, such as production firms, script writers, and filmmakers. We have Sometrics, which is kind of a search technology for Web 2.0, They came here, and it worked.

Some attendees came in a bit later on Sunday as they coded and designed throughout the previous night however everyone was “in the Loft” by mid-morning, along with other guests such as Paige Craig and Francisco Dao ( 50 Kings , Twiistup, and Writer at Fast Company).
