Yes, there are some events around particular technologies. Most networking events tend to either focus on specific technologies (PHP,Net, C#, Microsoft, LAMP, MySQL, Open Source, Hadoop, Java, etc.) Actually, there are some CFO events. But not really CTO events. or focused on industry or type of company.

Code.org is leading an event called ‘Hour of Code’ with an impressive goal of getting 10 Million students to learn to code (for at least one hour) during the week of December 9-15. Events Social Good Video Code.org Coding Hacker MONA Foundation Technology' There are resources on the Code.org site for kids as young as 7.

In a collaborative effort, Ria Consulting, LLC and Los Angeles Net Developers Group are hosting this event on November 10th, 2012 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California. After attending this one day bootcamp you will be an advanced Javascript coder.

Some used Java, Ruby, jQuery while others used PHP, HTML, and CSS. The event included eleven participating teams from around the area, all with various backgrounds. Throughout the whole event the energy was so high and showed the excitement in the community for such an event. But this event was special.

Spearheaded by Alex Donn , the event was designed for both technical and non-technical attendees to build apps over the course of a weekend at Io/La , an incubator/co-work space in the heart of Hollywood. This was a free event boasting prizes for winners of various categories such as cash, gift cards, free month stay at Io/La and many more!

AT&T and American Airlines went all out with this event. I attended this event and I believe I saw Anya Ayoung Chee in the house (winner of Project Runway #9 and a former Ms. Technologies used: google maps, jquery, java, and tomcat. Java Web App built on the Spring Framework. DJ 4Real had the turntables wobbling.

Java script, HTML5-enabled browser for developers. No official word from Cadillac if the system will be compatible with Siri, but they’ve indicated that the system is built flexible and scalable. Other tech-specs include: 3-core ARM 11 processor (executes 1.2 billion instructions per second).
