As I earlier suggested, part of the problem is due to the organization of Washington, DC, right down to fiscal years and annual budgets. While innovation is indeed listed as a top priority of OSTP, this "investment in innovation-enabling research" will not necessarily help STEM education, nor do anything to inspire America's youth.

That is excluding a single line of code or paying any salaries. Our chief architect, Ryan Lissack, wanted to store our data in Amazon’s new (at the time) storage product called S3 that enabled us to store all our data in their facility and we’d pay by the MBs uploaded / downloaded. We raised $16.5 million in our A round.
