If you can’t get product released and validated then do user studies. Join local organizations like OCTANe , TechStars or Launchpad LA. You need to make it an effort by researching on the web and going and doing 50 coffee meetings with people. This is part of my ongoing series Pitching a VC. Most people are not obsessive.
