Today the Traveling Geeks saw presentations from 11 interesting startups at French incubator, the Paris Development Agency. Zoomorama was a finalist at the Microsoft BizSpark event at South by Southwest Interactive 2009. Scan & Target - a SaaS solution for real-time text mining and analysis of User Generated Content.

Our original name when we launched the firm was Digital Coast Partners, and we focused on being a consulting firm, investment bank, and incubator. When the market crash hit in 2009, the financing and M&A business dropped dramatically throughout the entire investment banking industry. Unfortunately, the IPO market did not cooperate.

I still get a lot of pushback from VCs (but) I think by now people understand that we don''t change or alter or in any way, um, vary content on the site. in 2008 and 2009, we had at that point righted many of the wrongs in the venture capital industry, but that didn''t mean that entrepreneurship was all of a sudden healthy.

Clearly, 2009 was not a good year, from the perspective of the technology innovation ecosystem. Launchpad is a virtual incubator and accelerator, where we put companies in and give them quantitative and qualitative feedback and mentorship. They asked me why I was interested in a nonprofit?
