Launchpad LA , the Los Angeles startup accelerator program which is run by Sam Teller, and was founded by venture capitalist Mark Suster, is gearing up for another class, to start next month. The deadline for applying for the next class , which runs from March through July, is February 17th.

The acquisition Tuesday of ThinkNear , the mobile advertising firm headed by Eli Portnoy, looks to be among the first accelerator-incubated companies in Southern California. Los Angeles-based online event promotion service Planana , the startup founded by Anna Sergeeva and Fei Xiao, said Thursday that the company has been accepted to the DreamIt Ventures Winter 2013 class in Austin, Texas. The startup said that it will be demonstrating its products at SXSW at March 8th, at the conclusion of the program.

There are a couple of companies that have already done fundraising whereas at a normal incubator non of them would have even started.”. By 2011 the market had started to change dramatically. We announced Fund I in 2011. With the success of Idealab in the 90’s every city was building out incubators.
