LA City Council Member Eric Garcetti will give the opening keynote for the inaugural Silicon Beach Fest , a celebration of digital innovators in startups and entertainment happening June 21 – 23. The moniker Silicon Beach refers to the technology scene in Los Angeles concentrated around the areas of Santa Monica and Venice.

The first-ever Silicon Beach Fest attracted more than 2,000 attendees from LA, San Francisco, San Diego, Santa Barbara, New York, Toronto, and London to celebrate LA startups and entertainment with panels, parties, pitch fests, hackathon, and beach games: volleyball, basketball and surfing lessons in Santa Monica and Venice on June 21-23, 2012.

Campbell was new to Los Angeles, freshly inspired from a TED conference, and after attending a smattering of Barcamps and Westside Meetups he was ready to produce his own event that was a mixture of all. The recent partnership with UCLA is what initially brought Mindshare to the Westside. as Mindshare plans to branch out.
