René Pinnell says he and his wife Selena Pinnell were “blown away” by the virtual reality projects their friends were creating in 2014, so they looked for an entrepreneurial niche that would allow them to support such artists. That year the couple, both trained in design, founded a startup in San Francisco, then called KaleidoscopeVR.

What people were able to do there, was they were able to scan a QR code on the shirt with their phone, and that launched a mobile promotion on their phone, and got people to register to vote from their phone. Current stats: Their site has over 30 million users with mobile app that has pushed well past a million downloads since its January release. Wearing sunglasses on stage was for entertainment.
