The titles were: Mobile First, Web Second. Mobile First, Web Second (continued). People forgot that Fred also wrote “Web Second.” ” So I’ve had to encourage an entire cohort of startups that I’ve met not to ignore the power of the web. Thus I endorse Web Second. then mobile is awesome.

From apps to hardware, to KickStarter successes and international startups, we’re inching closer to finding out who will take home the title of Startup of the Year competition at our annual Celebrate Conference in October. Among the dozens of participants that applied for the online competitions, only a few progressed into the semifinals.

The ARPANET, as it was called back then, was designed by government, industry and academia so scientists and academics could access each other’s computing resources and trade large research files, saving time, money and travel costs. We are currently still suffering from those shifts.

So I invested in Maker Studios , which is now the 3rd largest producer of Internet video on the web. But its objective is to teach the world web design or to program computers. And while Maker Studios is pure entertainment, TreeHouse is pure education. Full stop. TreeHouse is also a video company.
