Despite the fact that I teach entrepreneurship at UC Santa Barbara , I do not believe that entrepreneurs are created in classrooms. My courses are rigorous and demanding. I has been asked to do the keynote speech at a dinner that night but of course hadn’t written a speech in advance. I was on vacation in Santa Barbara two years ago with my wife and I was reflecting on what I had learned in my first year in LA and in VC. I couldn’t carry on a conversation.
