I had a recent email dialog with the founder of a company looking for a CTO for their startup. Did they really need a Startup CTO or Developer or both? And do I fit as a Part-Time CTO , Technology Advisor , CTO Founder , Acting CTO ? He needed some kind of CTO and as well Developers.

It’s true the some VCs have started writing so many checks that they resemble stock pickers but the majority of us still have less than 10 board seats at any time and tend to go pretty deep so the result is that we care deeply about where we commit our time. Meredith came to see me along with the CTO Marc Berte.

I’m super excited to announce that GRP Partners led the investment in Ethan Anderson’s new company MyTime (link has LA-based merchants but will give you a good feel for the product). Let me not bury the lede. BuildOnline (the company I founded) has just announcement plans to be more aggressive in growing in the US.

The math works out that the investor owns 25% of the company post deal ($1 million invested / $4 million valuation) and assuming 1 million shares, each share would be valued at $3 / share ($3,000,000 pre-money / 1 million shares = $3 / share). You’ll need to hire and retain talen to grow your company. That’s normal.

We spoke to Robin about the new startup, his executive team, as well as his angel investing activity here. There's a gigantic need for the demand side of the marketplace. We've also hired a tremendous set of experience career counselors, who have had colorful or substantial careers, to supply services and products to our students.

At CallWave, Colin was CTO, Jason was CFO and I was in charge of product marketing and customer acquisition. Performance marketing also demands accountability. We wanted investment partners that understood performance marketing and what it was like to be an entrepreneur from having done it before themselves. Deaf or blind?
