San Diego-based Qualcomm and Sun Microsystems announced today that the two are in an effort to port the popular Java programming language to Qualcomm's Snapdragon ARM processor. According to the two firms, Sun has ported its Java Platform Standard Edition 6( Java SE 6) to machines running on Qualcomm's processor. READ MORE>>.

Netty , Vert.x , and Java servlets are fast, but we were surprised how much faster they are than Ruby , Django , and friends. Among the many factors to consider when choosing a web development framework, raw performance is easy to objectively measure. In third place is plain Java Servlets running on Cauchos Resin Servlet container.

Los Angeles-based Webalo , a company which provides mobile application development tools, said this afternoon that it has raised $3M in a new funding round. Webalo says its software eliminates much of the coding, wating, and cost of traditional, mobile application development. Easton Ventures, Balch Hill Capital, and others.
