He was struggling to find high quality developers in Los Angeles. Just the kind of person I like to meet. :) But I was a bit surprised when he emphasized how hard it had been for them to find a web developer in Los Angeles. The result of web design are static pages as graphics or HTML.

Los Angeles-based cloud and web hosting operator Media Temple said this morning that it has named Lou Kikos as the company's new Vice President of Marketing. Media Temple focuses on providing its web hosting to web designers, developers, app publishers, creative agencies and enterprises.

Los Angeles-based web and cloud hosting service provider Media Temple said Thursday that it has launched a new, shared hosting solution, which is based on its existing shared hosting platform, Grid. The company said the new offering specifically is targeted at freelance web designers, developers, and small and medium agencies.

Los Angeles-based GRP Partners , has invested in UK-based TreeHouse , an online, video-focused site for helping users learn web design and development. Other investors in the firm include Kevin Rose, Reid Hoffman, David Sze, Josh Elman, and Chamath Palihapitiya. The deal was worth $600,000.

It remains to be seen if that advantage lasts--Los Angeles startup founders and investors still complain it''s near impossible to find good technology talent in the area, even without competition from Facebook or Google--but it''s an interesting change in attitude in the industry.
