Mobile app downloads went from 300mm in 2009 to 5 billion in 2010, Android ad impressions up over 2,000% as two examples. I'll list three, not necessarily in order. (1) 2) Advertising in the Facebook ecosystem.

I’m very pleased today to announce that I invested, on behalf of GRP Partners, in Burstly alongside Rincon Venture Partners , an early stage VC in Southern California whith whom we love to work (and were our co-investors on RingRevenue ). It’s also a great example of why transparency is so important.

An obvious example that comes to mind is Roger Ehrenberg, whose fund Information Arbitrage , is looking at companies in these categories. Gilt Group is currently the largest private sale web site in US. Configurable from desktop-based web-based UI. Note that I’m not defining who numbers 1,2 are. Time will tell. Founded in 2007.

I spoke about how Amazon Web Services deserves far more credit for the last 5 years of innovation than it gets credit for and how I believe they spawned the micro-VC category. An obvious example is Google who may have gotten less market attention if there would have been 8 well-financed competitors during the 2001-2005 timeframe.
