Triptrotting Raises $1M

Pasadena-based Triptrotting , which operates an online service to help connect travelers with local hosts, has raised $1M in a Series A funding, the firm said this morning.The funding came from Google Ventures, Mark Suster, 500 Startups, WI Harper, Bill Gross of Idealab, Safa Raschtchy, and Eric Chen.

Triptrotting Adds Events and Activities

Triptrotting's founders are Aigerim Shorman and Shana Zheng, and the company is backed by Google Ventures, 500 Startups, Idealab, WI Harper Group, Golden Seeds, Seraph Group, Safa Rashtchy and other angels. Triptrotting said it now has expanded to over 2,000 cities worldwide. The company is also part of the Launchpad LA accelerator.

At at time where nearly all advertising was purchased on a CPM (cost per thousand) basis and not very measurable this was a huge innovation that should be credited to Bill Gross, the founder of IdeaLab. But of course Google eventually became the massive winner in this category. I believe that many social networks confused this idea.
