In a sign of the growth of the Silicon Beach technology world, last year, Google moved its headquarters out of a space on Arizona Avenue in Santa Monica, and into a new fancy headquarters space in Venice. Today, we just had a screening for the Tech Coast Angels, they're screening companies and having lunch here.

It is adjacent to Mountain View, home to Google. Back in 2006/07 when I sold my company and then worked at Salesforce.com there were very few options in SF for technology folk to build their careers at big, growing companies. Technology innovation doesn’t occur in a vacuum. These days it’s Santa Monica and Venice.

Folks went to Orlando, Dallas, Denmark, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and someone even got a small studio in Venice Beach with views of the Pacific Ocean (and yes, I admit, that was me). It was kinda surreal to see all these faces from all around the world on your screen. We used BlueJeans and Google Hangouts for video chat.
