I went to an event by Amazon on their Amazon Web Services in Santa Monica today. However, there are some interesting differences in terms of not being able to control proximity of multiple boxes, having a fixed IP address and probably most interesting is the ephemeral nature of the persistent storage on the boxes.

It started around a year ago, as I was driving back from Santa Monica from an event. I thought, it''s great what is going on in Santa Monica, but it''s very hard to be part of the same community, given how far apart the cities are. The thesis is, we need collaboration, ideas, and IP, and to translate that into innovation.
