San Diego-based Nirvanix , the cloud storage service operator, has snagged the current CIO of Zynga as its new CEO, according to the company Monday. Debra Chrapaty, who formerly was CIO of Zynga, also served at Cisco as SVP of its Collaboration Software Group, in addition to working at Microsoft and E*TRADE Technologies.

San Diego-based Nirvanix, a provider of storage-as-a-service, said Tuesday that the firm's technology is being used by video delivery firm Ooyala. The firm charges by bandwidth and amount of storage, and competes against Amazon's S3 service. Financial impact of the partnership was not disclosed.

San Diego-based Nirvanix has hired on a storage veteran as VP of Sales, saying today that Joseph Lyons has joined the firm. Lyon joins the company from Brocade Communications, where he was Director of Services Sales for the Americas. The venture-backed firm competes against Amazon's S3 storage services.
