A new study released last night finds that Silicon Valley venture capitalists have gained significant confidence from last quarter. The index has been rising more or less steadily since a low in Q4 of 2008.

The rise of couponing in late 2008 coincided with the recession of the late 2000s;” this factor combined with an increased consumer interest in mobile technology and devices led to an unprecedented decline in print media. Statistics from 2008 show that digital couponing has rapidly grown but has yet to outpace paper coupons.

And so it happened that between 2000-2008 I was the biggest buzz kill at dinner parties. Remember it was only 2008 where Microsoft and even Google were laying off employees. Most of my MBA classes were a waste (since I had studied economics as an undergrad) but one totally changed my thinking. Many may simply hit the wall.

The people who we our content and videos in are essentially connected, mobile, have their phone with them all the time. We came together in 2008, to focus on digital content. Everyone carries their phone around, and 70 to 75 percent of the traffic on our site is all mobile. We look at it as having two parts.

Post 2008, LPs abhor illiquidity. Especially, since we are in SoCal and not in San Francisco, where although we've had some great companies lately, there are not as many case studies of what a company could be. If you look at the Fortune 2000, very few have figured how to represent themselves on mobile, but the consumer wants mobile.
