She took an operating role helping run Citysearch and Urbanspoon. And all the platform stuff. I’ll still work with Kara managing the next few funds, but I’ve already been pushing for our firm to do more to diversify our activities and this will allow me to focus on some of that. Does This Mean You’re Retiring? I’m only 52!

GRP’s biggest winners over the years have not only come from LA (Overture, CitySearch, TrueCar) but from Chicago (Envestnet, Ulta), Las Vegas (HDI), Baltimore (BillMeLater), New York (DealerTrack), London (LastMinute.com) and other locations. But luckily for his wife I don’t think he’ll be spending much extra time there.

They decided early to only book very high quality vendors so they build a system that could pull in Yelp & CitySearch reviews and they set the standard that it had to be highly rated. MyTime aims to be the first industry-wide platform to help create consistency across the SKUs in services businesses.

I meet with Bay Area entrepreneurs all the time and am actively looking to make investments there. And despite what I keep hearing from others – these are not content “hit businesses&# they are “content production platforms&# that are producing scale like I’ve never seen and at a cost structure that is astounding.

Who’s going to help you with improving your marketing / positioning to become a clear platform category leader like Twilio? We have all of the 2nd-time entrepreneurs from Overture, CitySearch, MySpace, etc. But who else is going to get out there and close your big biz dev deals with you? Are you going to do all of this?
