Advertising has driven the majority of Internet innovation. that is an “in-stream advertising&# company currently focused on monetizing Twitter. This has prompted many people to question whether advertising “in stream&# and on Twitter is a good thing or a bad thing. So what do we mean by in-stream advertising?

I ended up passing on the Twitter investment, but I put out a blog post at the time--I was working for CBS--asking if someone would want to build it, and a kid named Soren MacBeth emailed me back saying he'd build it, which started the idea of StockTwits. Advertising is one of our revenue streams right now, but not our core focus.

It's like WordPress, but instead of blogging, it provides an online community, which is self-hosted. People we met there were Greg Cohn, who was recently head of yahoo games. Alex Benzer: I was a computer kid in high school, though I thought I'd go into advertising. SocialEngine is a white-label, community platform.
