Google had no clue that they were going to make so much money in sponsored search. They had signed up Gawker Media and the New York Post. They had signed up Glam Media and TMZ. We’ve proven that through innovation and experimentation we can do significantly more revenue than we’re getting through Google AdSense.

The old media companies were resistant to change. Early on GumGum began to experiment with overlaying rich media ads through Flash with photos until technology progressed and they moved over to Javascript. Though competitors have sprung up, Tanz welcomes the competition to help define the market. Much bigger.
