I acted as the occasional mentor, advisor and coach to Ethan. Let me not bury the lede. The company was called Red Beacon.

For Scott Ferreira , the founder of MySocialCloud.com (www.mysocialcloud.com), it was an investment from Sir Richard Branson and Jerry Murdock. After that weekend in Miami, he introduced us to his friend Jerry Murdock, who has invested in lots of tech companies. Both have been great mentors ever since.

And I spoke with the CTO of another great company I used to be on the board of and enlisted his support in potentially being an advisor to one company. My basic philosophy is that almost anybody can build a network by investing time in it. Maybe 50 if you really invest time and effort. In fact, I practice it myself.

We have some great mentors now. Thanks to TechStars, we've got an awesome mentor who's co-habitating with us now, and we're learning something daily from him. It's actually uncommon to have a female CTO. We started working on local web design projects, but got sick of that in six months. We'd love to take money for that.

I seem to encounter a lot of people who want to attach a CTO label to me as I'm the only programmer on the founding team of three. While I do fill that role at the moment, I'm a little hesitant to refer to myself as a CTO as we still haven't launched a product, acquired a single user, or turned or a penny in profit. Accounting?
