I see it first hand in Los Angeles where given the growth of YouTube networks the worlds of art & technology are colliding. Many “tech companies” now have green screens. And costume & set designers. These days it’s Santa Monica and Venice. And make-up artists. And sound engineers. And writers!

The swanky little boutique suite on Santa Monica’s Main Street greeted me in a way that I hadn’t expected. The feel of the unit was very much like its predecessor, the PSP, with a wide body, glossy black surface, and wide screen. Sony’s LiveArea interface was definitely designed for the social gamer in mind.

For those who still might be wondering what Spotlight: LA Tech is all about, It’s a screening room for new technology homegrown in our region. 8:30 – 10:30pm – cocktail reception and networking. CallFire.com is a small company with fewer than 20 employees located in beautiful Santa Monica. Their focus is green technology.

There was the usual cogent presentation by Brian Solis on the future of PR in which he implored us to get beyond the echo chamber of Silicon Valley and Techmeme and focus on staying on the radar screen of real America. He obviously believes this since he has become CEO of TopSpin Media – a firm designed to do just that.
