In a way it’s intoxicating for those around them … initially. But lack of completion starts to erode confidence in one’s capabilities. I point this out because in a world where it sometimes feels productive to be busy, people seldom find extreme focus to get stuff out of the bottom end of the funnel.

I don’t meet many rational invests (VCs or LPs) who believe this will last but of course nobody knows whether we have 6 weeks, 6 months or 2 years. When customers are buying your products like hotcakes it can be intoxicating. In the ecommerce arena I see some great companies spending heavily on customer acquisition.

They are intoxicating, complex, insightful and tell a great story. I think many VCs have learned this the hard way when they step in to temporarily run companies as I have seen happen. To this day I’m sure they see the situation differently. But in the end they’re usually just that – a story. Sometimes a fantasy.
