Amazingly, I still find that many small businesses still don’t use any social media, much less appear on a range of platforms. I recommend some presence on two or three platforms. Seek mentoring from established industry leaders. In some cases, the best mentor is one of your best customers. Stay current.

It was standing room only at StartEngine 's Demo Day Wednesday afternoon, held at Santa Monica's Cross Campus , as the startup accelerator launched eight of its latest startups into the world, after a 90 day process of mentoring, honing their business model, and heads down development.

With the advent and popularity of crowdfunding platforms, including Kickstarter and IndieGoGo , as a winning alternative for funding your new venture, I find that many aspiring entrepreneurs are confused about the need to ever seek a professional angel investor. They don’t get excited by early stage research, development, or marketing hype.
