In particular, funding for companies developing deep technology--software and cloud, as opposed to content and media--seems to be lacking. There''s Caltech, the Claremont Colleges, Harvey Mudd, UCLA. I''m pretty active in all of them as a mentor, and I''m at least a frequent visitors to all of the local accelerators.

Eli Aizenstat: I entered into the Design Accelerator, which is an accelerator run in conjunction with the Art Center College of Design and Caltech, in the summer of 2014. Barry was a lead mentor there at Chapman University's Launch Labs, and we paired up. That's how Barry came in.
