The platform allows users to sync content and commands across all four screens — the smartphone, tablet/pad, computer and TV. And…they have opened up their API for all of you clever developers to create the amazing interactive second screen apps of the future. It is essentially a super large screen pad. What does that mean?

They first started in 1994 and are therefore almost as old as the Web itself. I’m sure it probably resonants with how most of you read the web. The idea is that if I can serve you an ad for a function that you already need to perform on the web anyways – a captcha – with a brand message I can drive recall.

You have Genius on iTunes, NetFlix''s recommended movies, Facebook or Twitter. When we first alpha tested this, we just had watchable entertainment, movies and TV, many of them popping up in second screen apps. When we started this, we were a web-based platform, because that''s what made the most sense when we started.

It will be a follow on from my “App is Crap” or “Web Second, Mobile First” blog posts but in short, video, updated, digestible formats. The starting screen every time is the camera. It’s the frequency designed to keep old people out and keep the product cool and hip for young people. Open Snapchat.

That said, Apple will remain a closed system designed to drive media consumption through a closed iTunes system and a take a toll for media distribution. Torso TV - Television was designed for a mass audience in a single country. I believe that NetFlix has won the battle for the “head end&# of content from films.
