This morning, Pasadena-based Perfect Market (www.perfectmarket.com) announced a new, $9M round of funding for the firm's technology, which is used to help publishers monetize their content. Congrats on funding. It's some of the kinds of things Demand Media does, except, for the newsroom. The third piece, is monetizing content.

We caught up with Andy, whose executive experience ranges from ZeroDegrees, NBC Internet/Xoom.com, Infoseek / Go Network, to CNET and Snap.com, and whose last firm was MerchEngines, which he sold last year, to hear more about his new startup.

The irony: a sad state that even with the huge number of social network applications we have at our disposal, we’re oftentimes lost, unable to keep up, or still lose touch so easily. It’s not your fault that we can only be social creatures to a certain extent before brain overload.

He’s behind IdeaLab and has created many interesting companies including innovating in solar energy ( eSolar ) and electric cars ( Aptera ). Especially when he’s surrounded by Danny Rimer (who funded Skype, MySQL, Last.FM I think the best solution for the social networking era is “in-stream&# advertising.

At at time where nearly all advertising was purchased on a CPM (cost per thousand) basis and not very measurable this was a huge innovation that should be credited to Bill Gross, the founder of IdeaLab. I believe that many social networks confused this idea. Social networks continue to drive conversion of marketers.
