Los Angeles-based Lunch.com , the online social media and networking site run by J.R. Johnson, told its users today that it has unveiled a new, personal RSS feed feature to the site. Normally the product is defined as a web site. Most founders are fairly passionate about the features and functions of the web site, iPhone application, Facebook application, or whatever web application represents the product. What applications and web sites have you been using? For me, my number one application is email.

The RSS feed subscription idea has been around for quite some time now, however for some reason never really caught on with the general public. Chances are because they need to then use another service like Google Reader to keep track of the RSS and end up getting information they are not generally interested in.

First, A Primer: Portals, RSS, Feed Readers & Delicious - When the web started we needed directories to find information and thus Yahoo! Then came RSS ( Really Simple Syndication ) widely credited to Dave Winer for driving the spec & adoption. And the company that helped websites publish RSS? Twitter curates even wider.

I’ve argued previously that Twitter is a new form of curated RSS and in many ways it is. But it is a transient RSS reader. I think this is important – otherwise your Twitter feed just becomes, literally, an RSS reader. I left the panel thinking that Guy was off base but realizing he had somewhat of a point.

I also expanded the syndication of my articles to mainstream sites, such as TechCrunch, Inc. Exposure on these sites more than doubled my readership from 2011. Unfortuately, link-bait titles generate a disproporionate number of views on mainstream sites in which readers decide which articles to explore based solely on their titles.
