When you think about the trends of faster-growing startups due to social networking, credit card enable and mobile first consumers – the reality is that many startups are becoming very large financially before needing to go public. 2007 was the watershed year.

Argument two says, “big companies can’t innovate anymore so Google, Apple, Microsoft, etc. Remember it was only 2008 where Microsoft and even Google were laying off employees. I believe that huge financial, productivity and technical gains come from new innovation rather than derivative thinking.

There's been a huge debate over the future of Adobe's Flash raging over the last month, as both Google and Mozilla disabled Flash due to security holes and other issues. All of digital advertising today uses Flash as a foundation technology. I think it's a shining example of Silicon Beach's technology helping out Hollywod.
