Microsoft’s $1.2 Billion Acquisition of Yammer Complete

According to the Jared Spataro Senior Director, Office Division, Microsoft in a blog post the firm had met all the requirements regarding the acquisition. He says,” all closing conditions for Microsoft’s acquisition of Yammer have been met, and the deal is completed”. Yammer was launched in 2008 and raised $142 million then.

Michael Jones Gets Exit At Thing Labs

Thing Labs was foundedin June of 2008, with funding from Jones, Polaris Venture Partners, SoftTech VC, and Jeff Clavier. This is at least the second time Jones has benefited from an AOL acquisition; his own startup, Userplane, was acquired by AOL in 2006.

Napster's Gorog Departs Firm

Chris Gorog , the CEO of Los Angeles-based Napster , said Wednesday in a blog post that he is leaving the firm. The move comes 16 months after the acquisition of Napster by Best Buy. Best Buy purchased Napster for $121M in September of 2008. READ MORE>>.

ContentNext--which had been founded by Rafat Ali in Santa Monica, and eventually sold in July of 2008 to Guardian News and Media--publishes paidContent, mocoNews.net, paidContent:UK, and contentSutra.com. Ali had founded the blog after he lost a job immediately after September 11th. Names of potential buyers were not discussed.
