Everybody has a blog these days and there is much advice to be had. Many startups now go through accelerators and have mentors passing through each day with advice – usually it’s conflicting. There are bootcamps, startup classes, video interviews – the sources are now endless. What is a founder to do?

Ask me something very narrow that I can answer without typing a whole blog post length response. If I AM an investor, mentor, friend or advisor I accept the email being longer. Fred Wilson nailed this in his “double opt in&# blog post. Summary: Those the make it easier for others to help them will receive more help.

Based on my current role as a mentor to entrepreneurs, I will paraphrase and recommend Whiddon’s top techniques in business terms: Build an image of likability and rapport.
